At least on Fedora 21:

  • in Gnome environment the SysRq key is a combination of Ctrl+Alt+Print Screen;
  • in "text" environment the SysRq key is a combination of Shift+Alt+Print Screen;
  • etc.


Adding letter to this combination executes one of the actions - see Wikipedia article for details. For example,

  • SysRq+S syncs filesystems which can be seen visually by flashing disk LED;
  • SysRq+E terminate all processes gracefully;
  • etc.
